B and D – On the Road

Pensacola, FL

We are at our normal RV park in Pensacola.   We stay here 3 or 4 times a year when we come to visit my family.  Both of my sisters and my brother have homes in the area. My mother is in an assisted living facility here so we spent part of our time visiting with her.  Since it was my brother’s birthday during our visit we all met at his home for dinner and got a chance to catch up on what we all have been doing.

We had been to Hawaii earlier in the year and had a chance to meet up with my brother’s daughter and her husband.  They have been living there for about three years while he was stationed at a naval base there.  We stayed way later than we planed discussing Hawaii and the places we had visited and the 7 day cruise we took.  My brother and his wife had taken the same cruise and some of the similar excursions.

We also had time to go visit my mother several times and go to each of my sister’s homes for visits and dinner.  Had a good visit with everyone.

Also took a little time to look over the RV one more time to see if we needed anything else or needed to get rid of anything.  I have had to make a few changes in regards to cooking.  I did not bring any cast iron pans with me because of the weight and the fact that my cooktop is glass.  I do miss having a cast iron skillet for making Blackened Catfish.  My younger sister did offer to give me one while we were here but I turned it down.  I have a microwave/convection oven combination in the coach but it does not have a broil option and that is what I like to use for the catfish.  After a few not so successful attempts I finally have figured out which pan I have that works and that I just have to bake it rather than broil it.  My sister did suggest I put the pan out on our grill and try it that way.

If we had been staying longer we would have moved to one of the RV parks around a beach. We stay at some of them when we are kayaking and snorkeling in the area.

Our next stop is moving to an area where we have not visited.
